John Tavares O.D.
Originally from Warren, Michigan, Dr. John Tavares relocated to Houston in 1995. Dr. Tavares began his undergraduate studies at Wayne State University in Detroit, and later at the University of Houston, before going on to earn his doctorate of optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2003. While at the college of optometry, Dr. Tavares received supplemental clinical training in the area of complex medical eye conditions and surgical solutions. Although Dr. Tavares enjoys providing general eye health exams and fitting contact lenses, he has a well-earned reputation for developing exacting solutions to complex eye conditions and has a particular interest in preventive care and ocular health maintenance.
Dr. Tavares has been affiliated with Memorial Eye Center since his relocation to Houston in 1995.
Dr. Tavares is an ardent sports fan and can often be found in the stands at an Astros, Texans, or Aeros game. He passionately follows the Detroit Red Wings and rarely misses an Astros’ spring training in Florida. Dr. Tavares also enjoys participating in fundraisers, especially at Hollibrook Elementary School where his wife is an educator.
Dr. Tavares is available for English and Spanish language exams.
